What today really makes the trees of human knowledge? What are the authentic ideas germinated in a whole new paradigm that permanently changed our world? The Center for Promotion of Science and the University of Belgrade-Faculty of Forestry invite you to take a walk through a real-like 'forest', in the center of the capital, and discover 13 scientific ideas that changed the world.
(Beside University of Belgrade-Faculty of Forestry, the exhibition is also equiped with the help of Srbijašume, The Institute for Nature Conservation of Serbia, and The Natural History Museum in Belgrade.)

TMD Design department and German Cultural Center in Belgrade, held a workshop entitled "City and creativity." (GRAD I KREATIVNOST) in this year's Belgrade Book Fair. The participants were students from the School of Design in Belgrade, and works made in this workshop will be exhibited in the library of Goethe-Institut in Knez Mihailova Street in Belgrade

As a part of the Mikser festival program, TMD Design department (University of Belgrade, Faculty of Forestry) is organizing MAKE A WOODEN FABRIC open creative workshop.
The project researches the relationships between rigid and solid forms of the initial element (sheets of wood veneer) and potential flexibility of the final structure, thus aims to demonstrate the potential of wood as compared to modern technology and principles of design.
During the workshop, participants will have the opportunity to explore the relationships between geometry and function, as well as the process of creation and development of the final product. The result of the workshop is a wooden material consisting of basic elements - veneer, interconnected and arranged in a flexible assembly.
The workshop is open to everyone interested to help in shaping this new amazing "wooden fabric"

U okviru Mikser festivala, odsek TMP Šumarskog fakulteta organizuje radionicu Make a wooden fabric. Projekat radionice zasniva se na istraživanju odnosa krute i чврсте forme osnovnog elementa i savitljivosti i fleksibilnosti strukture finalnog sklopa. Cilj projekta je da prikaže potencijal drveta u odnosu na savremenu tehnologiju i principe projektovanja. Tokom radionice, učesnici će imati priliku da istražuju odnos geometrije i funkcije, kao i sam proces nastanka i razvoja finalnog proizvoda. Rezultat radionice je drvena tkanina koja se sastoji od osnovnih elemenata furnira međusobno povezanih i složenih u savitljiv sklop.

GUESTS“ - Exhibition and presentation of the Mikser Festival – the largest
regional festival of creativity and innovation and the potentials of Serbian
creative industry, to be held from 28 January – 1 February
2013, in the Press Club Brussels Europe, Rue Froissart 95, 1040 Brussels. / YOUNG BALKAN DESIGNERS EXHIBITION FEATURES WORK OF 19 young talents from Balkans AMONG WHICH 4 TMD DESIGN STUDENTS (Marija Bjelakovic, Milica Jovic, Emir Beciragic, Miljana Nikolic) FROM UNIVERSITY OF BELGRADE, FACULTY OF FORESTRY.
„We wish to present to the Brussels’ public the Belgrade’s Mikser Festival (http://mikser.rs/en/), which has become internationally renown as highly successful festival presenting the latest design achievements in the ex-Yugoslav, as well as the other Balkan countries“, says Ms. Gordana Zrnic, Director of Brussels Office of the The Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Serbia. „Our aim is to show the authentic creative potential of Serbia and the values that we could bring to Europe, in the year in which we expect the start of EU accession negotiations with Serbia“, continues Ms. Zrnic.
In addition to the exhibitions “Young Balkan Designers”, through which Mikser is promoting the best talents of the Southeastern Europe in the domain of product design, and „Savamala – Belgrade Creative Distict“ showcasing the urban transformation of one of the most charming yet neglected neighborhoods of Belgrade, a special presentation program will be organized during the five days event in Brussels, with emphasis on the Mikser’s activities, but also on the new creative voices in Serbia. The event will also include the presentation of Savamala, a quarter of Belgrade of a great significance to the city’s history, located on the bank of the Sava River in the very center of Belgrade. „By choosing Savamala as the site of its festival and the address of its new creative center “Mikser House” to be opened in March 2013, Mikser organization has put the revitalization of this part of Belgrade in the focus not only of the Serbian, but of the international public as well. This is the reason why we expect that this event could attract the interest of European investors“, explains Ms. Zrnic
In the course of this event, Serbia’s tourism potentials will also be presented, as will a number of Serbian companies, winners of notable European awards in the area of technological innovation.
The opening ceremony, to which you are cordially invited, will take place on 28 January, from 18-22h, in The Press Club Brussels Europe, Rue Froissart 95, 1040 Brussels, in the presence of Mr. Jelko Kacin, MEP and rapporteur for Serbia, and HE Mrs. Vesna Arsić, Ambassador of Serbia in the Kingdom of Belgium. Belgian conceptual artists, Mr. Laurent D’Ursel and Mr. Xavier Lowenthal will contribute to the opening event by performing a specially created experiential walk through the exhibition artefacts. Guest musician from Belgrade is Ms. Jelena Petosevic, composer and singer, while the closing cocktail will be the occasion to learn about the latest innovations of the Serbian gastronomy.

70 years since the death of one of the greatest scientific minds
70 YEARS SINCE THE DEATH OF ONE OF THE WORLD'S GREATEST SCIENTIFIC MINDS
"If your hate could be turned into electricity, it would light up the whole world"

On this day, in 1943, at his room in Hotel New Yorker in Manhattan, alone, and in poverty, died "The Man out of Time", "The Genius Who Lit the World", "The Man Who Invented the Twentieth Century", according to some "The Greatest Hacker of All Time", and ofcourse "The Master of lightning" - the Serbian-American and Yugoslav inventor, electrical engineer and physicist Nikola Tesla (born in Smiljan, present day Croatia)
He discovered the rotating magnetic field, invented the Polyphase Alternating Current System AC (its transmission, as well as induction motors, superior to Edison's DC power - See: War of Currents), that we know and use today.
He was the real father or the Radio, the wireless transmission of electrical energy, and remote control. Among his inventions are also the fluorescent light, laser beam, pioneer robotics, bladeless turbines, vertical take off aircrafts, and many other thrilling ideas, far beyond his time, and maybe ours too.
His Tesla Coils were the early predecessors of today's transformers that power the cathode ray tubes still used in today's televisions and computer monitors, as well as televisions and radio receivers. The Coil was also essential in driving apparatus such as x-ray machines, electron microscopes, particle accelerators, and various medical applications by the end of 1950s.
Among Tesla's mayor achievements was the electrification of The World's Columbian Exposition in Chicago, in 1893, commissioned by Westingouse, realized using Tesla's Polyphase system. which, as said, was the most spectacular lighting display, at night, that the world had ever seen before.
Another even greater memorable Tesla's achievement was the installing of the first mayor hydro-electric power plant in the world, built in 1895 at Niagara Falls with the help of George Westinghouse, with which began the electrification of the world, and the industrial era as we know it.
Tesla's long lost dream however, was to give the world free wireless energy and communication, and his Wardenclyffe Tower in Shoreham (Long Island, New York) showed success but was never finished (it was demolished in 1917 because of withdrawing the investment of J.P. Morgan, after which it was sold, however the Tesla's laboratory building still remained at place, and it is currently battled for preservation by Tesla Science Center )
Being well known as a futurist and a visionary, it is widely believed that Tesla's achievements in electromagnetic fields had gone much further than officially known, secretly studied, applied/misused (i.e. death rays, anti-gravity, mind control, weather change etc) however, after his death, thanks to Tesla's nephew, Yugoslav diplomat Sava Kosanović, great part of Tesla's documents and belongings, previously seized by Federal Bureau of Investigation and National Defense Research Committee for inspection, were shipped to newly established Nikola Tesla Museum in Belgrade Serbia in 1951, where they were fully documented, preserved, periodically and regularly showcased, and published .
The UNESCO included Tesla's archive into the "Memory of the World" Register, as a segment of movable documentary heritage, while Nikola Tesla's name has been honored with an International Unit of Magnetic Flux Density called "Tesla", which is the highest type of scientific honor, received only by three American scientists.
Tesla and his work never ceases to inspire scientists and intellectuals worldwide, his ideas and thoughts on free energy, world piece and humanity live on. At this point, we should remember, and conclude this quite short introduction about this great scientist, with one of his witty thoughts, addressed to humanity on growing hate and conflicts at the eve of World War II:
